HOW TO GET YOUR REAL ESTATE LICENSE

TAKE 60 HOUR PRE-LICENSE

This class is a prerequisite to taking the real estate exam.

TAKE AND PASS THE PSI EXAM

After you've taken your 60 hour Pre-License, you must pass the state and national exam to obtain your license.

TAKE THREE 12 HOUR CLASSES

You must take Developing Professionalism and Ethical Practices, Listing Practices and Buying Practices in order to submit your license application.

complete a background check

You can submit your background check by creating a profile at plb.iowa.gov. You will want to do this ASAP, as they may take up to 6-8 weeks.

be at least 18 years old

Iowa law requires you to be at least 18 years old in order to obtain your Iowa real estate license.

SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

After you've completed the above steps, it's time to become a licensed Realtor! You will submit this through the licensing portal that you submitted your background check through.
